I wanted to create a set of personal artworks that all fit within a theme and looked visually cohesive together, with a subject that would allow for quick drawings in-between larger projects. I love drawing faces and plants and mandrake imagery has been popping up in my sketchbook a lot recently, so they felt like a natural choice. 

I wanted to keep the process for these nice and quick, so no planning is done before the drawing, I just choose a plant that inspires me at that moment and see what happens on the page! Each drawing is on A5 paper, using a 2b mechanical pencil at 0.5mm, and a 6b graphite pencil, taking 2-3 hours to complete. 

I scan the drawing in, then colour it digitally in Procreate which takes about an hour.
